Qatar Embassy in Colombo celebrates National Sports Day 2019.

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Colombo celebrated the Qatar’s National Sports Day on 12 February 2019 at Royal College Sports Complex Colombo, based on the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to raise awareness about the importance of sport and its role in the life of individuals and community as a platform for a healthy life, adding that sports is an integral part of Arab and Islamic heritage and culture.


Qatar and Kuwait pledge to enhance relations

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Amir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah held official talks yesterday morning at Bayan Palace. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and means of boosting them to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples. Also, the two sides exchanged views on the most important issues and current regional and international developments.


Qatar, China vow to bolster ties

QNA : Beijing Qatar and China pledged to take bilateral relations to new heights as the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Chinese President Xi Jinping held official talks at the Beijing People’s Palace on Thursday. The two countries signed a series of agreements, including a MoU on establishing a strategic dialogue mechanism to strengthen the bilateral relations.


Amir, Japan’s Prime Minister discuss promoting bilateral ties

QNA Tokyo The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani held a session of official talks with HE Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe at the Prime Minister's Office in Tokyo on Tuesday evening. At the outset of the session of official talks, HE the Japanese Prime Minister welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation, recalling HH the Amir last visit to Japan four years ago and the subsequent meetings. He said Japan attaches the highest level of confidence to Qatar as a gas exporting country. HE the Japanese Prime Minister pointed out that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be marked in 2021.He also said that the State of Qatar will host the 2022 World Cup, looking forward to further communication to strengthen bilateral relations.


Qatar, S Korea leaders sign agreements for more cooperation in various fields

Qatar and South Korea on Monday signed a number of memorandums of understanding across multiple sectors of strategic importance taking the strong and historical bilateral ties to greater heights. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who was on his fourth official visit to South Korea, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in witnessed the signing ceremony at the Blue House, the Presidential Palace in Seoul, Qatar News Agency reported.



Qatar Renews Commitment to Dialogue to Resolve Crisis Created by Blockade States

New York – information office – 23 January 2019 The State of Qatar reiterated its commitment to resolve the crisis that the countries of the blockade have created through dialogue that guarantees sovereignty and put an end to illegal measures. It also renewed its commitment to the mediation of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, expressing appreciation of these efforts, and of the States that supported it, in order to resolve the crisis.


State of Qatar to Support Lebanese Economy with $500 Million

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar plans to invest in Lebanese government bonds to support the country's economy. The decision was made after a meeting between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Lebanese Republic Michel Aoun during HH's visit to the sisterly Lebanese Republic where he headed the delegation of the State of Qatar at the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which ended its fourth session in the Lebanese capital Beirut. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar will purchase Lebanese government bonds worth $500 million.
