History of the mission

Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Sri Lanka began officially at the Ambassadorial level (Non-Resident) on 20/07/1976.

Qatar opened its Mission in Colombo on 28/09/2004, and Sri Lanka opened its Mission in Doha in 1997. Since then, the relations between the two countries witnessed great progress and development in various fields.

Current head of the Mission

His Excellency Jassim bin Jaber J.B. Al-Sorour, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar "Resident" to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
