The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Colombo celebrated the Qatar National Sport Day on 13 February 2018 at City League Football Complex in  Colombo, based on the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to raise awareness about the importance of sport and its role in the life of individuals and community as a platform for a healthy life, adding that sport is an integral part of Arab and Islamic heritage and culture.

The National Sports Day events held with the participation of His Excellency Rashid Shafea Al Marri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Colombo, Some other Arab Ambassadors in Colombo including His Excellency Zuhair Mohammed Hamdullah Zaid -Ambassador of Palestine- and His Excellency Al-Sheikh Jumah Hamdan Al-Shehhi, Ambassador of Sultanate of Oman and the Staff of the Embassy.

The sports activities featured football and walking.
